Venetian Blinds Venetian Blinds can be fitted in the recess of the window. Measure the width at the top and the bottom of the opening. If there is a difference in the measurement use the smaller one. Measurements should allow for clearance of about 9mm(3/8 in) at each end. Screw the brackets in place so that the blind when hanging, will clear any brackets or handles. Set the end brackets 75mm (3in) in from the end of the head rail, mount the head rail in the brackets, some simply clamp others lock into place with a swivel catch on each bracket. First raise and lower the blinds to check that the mechanism is working freely to lower the blind pull the cord across the front of the blind to release the lock mechanism then let it slide through your hand tilt the slats by rotating the control wand or pulling the cord at the other end if a control wand is not fitted.
